MS. SIMONA LAVAGNINI AMONG THE AUTHORS OF THE PUBLICATION OF THE ITALIAN GROUP OF AIPPI ON CRIMINAL COUNTERFEITING

Drafted by a group of experts in industrial and intellectual property law, the contribution has been published the 21st February 2020 on the website “Sistema Penale”. Among the authors also Ms. Simona Lavagnini, co-founding partner of LGV Avvocati.

 

The International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) is known to promote debate on current issues related to the protection of intellectual and industrial property.
Ms. Simona Lavagnini, co-founding partner of LGV Avvocati and member of the executive committee of the Association (AIPPI Italian Group), is among the authors of the publication, realized thanks to the prestigious coordination of Prof. Avv. Francesco Mucciarelli. The contribution, published today on the website “Sistema Penale”, examines the application of the notion of counterfeiting in the field of industrial criminal law, with specific focus on case law. The publication also deals with the criminal notion of counterfeiting in relation to the protection of numerous industrial property rights: registered trademarks and other distinctive signs (typical and atypical), patents, designs and models.

MRS. SIMONA LAVAGNINI ELECTED IN AIPPI’S ITALIAN GROUP EXECUTIVE BOARD

Mrs. Simona Lavagnini, co-founding partner of LGV, has been elected with the highest number of preferences in AIPPI’s Italian group Italy executive board for the period 2020-2023.

 

During AIPPI’s Italy meeting of last February 11th, 2020, Simona Lavagnini, co-founding partner of LGV, was elected on AIPPI’s Italian group executive board. She gained a total of 215 votes, arriving first in terms of preferences.
Founded in 1897, AIPPI is the world’s leading International organization in the field of intellectual property. Due to the contribution of its 9.000 members, representing more than 100 Countries, AIPPI has been always committed to the development and improvement of laws for the protection of intellectual property. In particular, AIPPI cooperates with both government and non-government organizations and carries out comparative studies on the most relevant legislative proposals in the field of IP.


OPENING OF THE JUDICIAL YEAR 2020: TANKRED THIEM, PARTNER OF LGV LAWYERS, WILL REPRESENT THE DAV – ASSOCIATION OF GERMAN LAWYERS AT THE “INTERNATIONAL ROUNDTABLE” ON THE TOPIC OF CROSS BORDER DIMENSION OF MEDIATION.

Tankred Thiem, partner of LGV Avvocati, will represent the German lawyers’ association “Deutscher Anwaltverein”, at the traditional opening ceremony of the judicial year 2020, organized by the Milan Bar Association and the International Relations Commission. On that occasion, Mr. Thiem will participate in the “International Roundtable”, organized for an exchange of experiences and positions by representatives of foreign lawyers and international associations on the topic of mediation.

 

The opening ceremony of the judicial year in Milan will begin on January 30th and will end on February 2nd. This is an important occasion for the debate on the development of the administration of justice in our country, in which also representatives of foreign lawyers traditionally participate.
Again, this year the topic of the conference scheduled for the afternoon of January 31st “Transnational dimensions of mediation” concerns purely comparative aspects. Representatives of national academic and practical world will participate, and a comparison of developments in other countries, not only in Europe, will be addressed. In Germany, the DAV association, with its 67,000 member lawyers and several commissions dedicated to specific issues and subjects, is an important reality and often a point of reference also in legislative procedures.


COPYRIGHT AND INTERNET: MRS. SIMONA LAVAGNINI PARTICIPATES AS SPEAKER AT THE CONFERENCE ORGANIZED BY THE BAR ASSOCIATION OF MILAN TOGETHER WITH THE MILAN BAR FOUNDATION

The Milan Bar Association and Foundation organize a conference to address a wide range of topics in the field of copyright and Internet. LGV Avvocati Law Firm will be represented by Mrs. Simona Lavagnini, co-founding partner and leading expert in copyright and new technology law.

 

The conference will open with a general overview of the responsibility of Internet Service Providers, with a specific focus on civil and criminal liability profiles. Two important legal references will be further addressed: the European Copyright Directive in the Digital Single Market and the AGCom Regulation on online copyright protection.
In addition, the experts will analyse the decisions of the Supreme Court on the liability of the caching provider and the hosting provider, as well as the decisions of the EU Court of Justice on the liability of the mere conduit.
In conclusion, the recent case of the stream ripping Yout site will be discussed: from the AGCom precautionary procedure to the appeal before the Administrative Tribunal.

The conference will be held on 10 December 2019, from 14.30 to 18.00 at sala Eligio Gualdoni, Tribunale di Milano.

CONFLICT OF INTEREST AND IP PROFESSIONALS: LGV AVVOCATI LAW FIRM PARTICIPATES IN THE AIPPI CONFERENCE

Mrs. Simona Lavagnini, co-founding partner of LGV Avvocati Law Firm and Chairman of the Training Group of AIPPI Italy, will moderate the AIPPI conference on conflict of interest in the context of lawyers and IP consultants’ associations. Tankred Thiem, partner of LGV Avvocati Law Firm, will also be present as speaker on conflict of interest’s comparative profiles.

 

The AIPPI conference includes numerous speeches by experts which will follow the usual greetings of
the Vice-president of the Milan Bar Association and Chairman of the Training Group of AIPPI Italy. Mrs. Simona Lavagnini, co-founding partner of LGV Avvocati and President of the Training Group of AIPPI Italy, will moderate the conference.
The topic of the seminar will be the conflict of interest for IP professionals, which will be addressed both from professional associations’ (of lawyers and consultants) point of view, as well as from industrial property law perspective, with a specific focus on unfair competition and trade secrets protection.
After a general overview, the speakers will deepen the rules on conflict of interest provided by lawyers and IP consultants’ associations.
A panel of experts will further address the issue from a comparative perspective. Among the speakers, Tankred Thiem, rechtsanwalt and attorney, partner of LGV Avvocati.

The seminar will be held on 18 December 2019, from 9.00 a.m. to 1.10 p.m. at the Sala Eligio Gualdoni of the Palazzo di Giustizia in Milan.

The Milan Bar Association will grant 3 training credits to participants, one of which in compulsory subjects. The seminar is currently under accreditation by the Association of IP consultants.
